Blackpool secondary schools sustain success!
For the eighth year in a row Blackpool schools have improved their GCSE results.
Blackpool schools have received their highest ever results for the ‘gold standard’ GCSE results, for anybody getting 5 A*-C results including English and Maths.
This year, 48% of Blackpool’s pupils have achieved the standard, up from 46% last year.
Four schools - Unity College, Collegiate High School, St George’s C of E school and St Mary’s Catholic College - have also achieved their highest ever results this year.
Both St Mary’s and Montgomery hold the highest results for Blackpool.
St George’s C of E and St Mary’s have also seen the largest improvements this year, with both schools improving their results by 9%.
Cllr Sarah Riding, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “Congratulations to all of our young people who have done really well to achieve this success. They have all worked very hard and deserve the rewards.
“These results show a continued improvement in educational achievement across Blackpool. We are absolutely committed to helping children in Blackpool receive the best possible start in their life and a good education is key to that.
“Credit should be given to all the staff and teachers who have helped us achieve that priority and we are beginning to see a real improvement in results because of that.”
