from Rose'n'Bowl in Stacksteads

The 5th Gravy Wrestling World Championships took place at the Rose 'n' Bowl in Stacksteads Rossendale on the 29th August 2011.

The event is organised by Andy Holt and Sara Lusty, both from the Real Black Pudding Company, and Ken Claxon and John Lowe, from the pub to raise money for the East Lancashire Hospice, whilst contestants can also raise money for their own chosen charities.

Placed in the top ten of the weirdest 'sports' and pastimes in 2010, the World Gravy Wrestling Championships is a real fun event with participants traveling from all over the country to get involved.

On hand to defend their crowns were last years winners Elisa Samson, dressed as Little Bo Peep and local lad Elliot Rooke who came as the 'Well Hung' Highlander.... don't ask!

Previous winners Joel Hicks who this year entered as Randy Sausage and Emma Slater as Mrs Christmas were also on hand to mix it with the 12 other competitors.

The event is on target to raise over £3000 for the hospice.
