Tradition dictates that every year a King and Queen contest must be held to determine who has the honor of leading the Preston Caribbean Carnival procession.
Prospective royal couples must dance, sing, prance and parade in order to win the judge's approval and blessing to be at the head of the many thousand strong parade from Moor Park to Avenham Park.
